That same night my brother and his wife came over to meet my new cat and even with more people around he still came out from his hiding to enjoy some pets and attention. He spent a little time periodically hiding under my bed, but would come out when you talked to him. With these items especially, their adoption fee is more than reasonable. It's so nice this shelter brings you supplies for your cat and items that help make your cat more comfortable in their new furever home. She helped me get settled in with him and made sure we were both comfortable and answered/went over the paper work with me before she left. (He also loves to be pet and cuddled!!) I was already approved which meant I was able to have Eileen drop him off to me that same night!Įileen came to my apartment and brought his bed, his blanket, toys, and some food. I came back the next day and decided on the grey tabby because it was a little bit older and set in his personality. I spent time petting and playing with both cats, but decided that I would come back the next day right when they opened and make my choice. One was a 7 month old tabby and the other a 1 year old grey tabby. I went on a Saturday and Eileen told me they had just gotten a handful of very friendly cats. I told Eileen I was looking for a mushy cat that would sit with me, liked to be pet, and would let me pick it up. Eileen knew their cats personality's inside and out and she (along with other volunteers) takes the time to work with cats before they are adopted. Something not all the rescues/shelters I visited had.Įileen primarily helped with my adoption and she was very good at showing me cats that would fit my needs. Something very helpful about Last Hope is the big room they use specifically for showing cats, which is filled with toys so you can really see their personality. After a very poor experience with Ruff House Rescue (/ do not recommend), I later went back to look at some cats at Last Hope. "Last Hope was the most helpful and professional animal adoption center I visited on Long Island (and I visited A LOT during my search for a cat companion). SO happy we found this shelter and rescued our little guy - we are in love! Definitely check out this shelter if you are looking to adopt a cat or dog!" The volunteers are friendly, helpful and accommodating. The home visit was conducted quickly and we were able to pick up our little guy two days after. "Adopted a beagle mix puppy from Last Hope and had such a great experience from start to finish. So i rejected on them even considering my kittens. After apologizing for understanding they are volunteer/ busy she still continued on being rude & nasty on the phone. Just wanted to find a home for my Kittens. I had left a message and called numerous times for them to call me back to let me know i was rude for leaving a stern message after no one returning my call. Therefore i wouldnt trust bringing any animal there. "Good thing they volunteer because they have 0 conception of “customer service” They really care about the animals and try to match them with loving homes." I % recommend stopping by here if one of their animals might be a fit for you, they were all so caring and great to work with." A crowd of staff said their farewells & best wishes as we left. When I got to Last Hope to finally meet him after being approved, he was out of his cage, bag packed and ready to go home. I called their line before officially meeting Owen and the women I spoke with encouraged me to put in an application as she saw him as a perfect fit. The staff was so supportive, educated and helpful throughout the process. I adopted an adult cat, Owen this weekend. "I had such a lovely experience with Last Hope.
